Policy Positions

Economic Policy

  • Against sweeping tariffs as a policy tool that raises prices on families
  • For Social Security expansion; supports making the benefit formula more generous, using cost-of-living formulas accounting for seniors' expenses, and scrapping the income cap subject to Social Security taxes

Business & Labor

  • For raising the federal minimum wage to $17 per hour and guaranteeing equal pay for equal work
  • For organized labor and union interests; supported Service Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, and other unions, though faced criticism for supporting Boeing's proposal to replace pensions with a 401(k)-style retirement plan

Health Care

  • For universal, affordable health care coverage; voted to let Medicare negotiate drug prices, cap out-of-pocket costs for seniors, and cap insulin at $35/month; supports restoring ACA tax credits; opposes privatization of Medicare and Medicare Advantage accountability; opposes privatization of Social Security; opposes Medicare for All and single-payer health insurance, instead supporting a public option added to the ACA

Civil Rights
