Policy Positions

Economic Policy

  • For high-speed rail infrastructure; wrote legislation to invest in modern high-speed rail infrastructure and advocated for California high-speed rail

  • For the Affordable Care Act; was reportedly a holdout vote initially but ultimately voted for the legislation in 2010
  • For veterans' healthcare; helped enact the PACT Act which guarantees healthcare to veterans exposed to toxic substances

Environment

  • For the Keystone XL pipeline; was one of 28 House Democrats to vote to build the pipeline in 2015

Civil Rights

  • For abortion rights; opposed the 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade and is an original co-sponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act which would enshrine Roe v. Wade into federal law
