- For opening federal lands to resource development; lobbied the Trump administration to open Tongass National Forest to logging and other development, and attempted to fast-track the Ambler Access Project through a defense bill amendment
- For an all-of-the-above energy strategy; opposed Biden administration energy policies, which he described as a 'war on energy'
Civil Rights
- Against abortion rights; in 2014 stated abortion should be illegal except to save the life of the mother or in cases of rape or incest; supported defunding Planned Parenthood (2017); supported the Dobbs v. Jackson decision overturning Roe v. Wade (2022); co-signed a 2025 letter urging HHS and FDA to reevaluate generic mifepristone approval and reinstate in-person prescription requirements for medication abortion
- Against same-sex marriage in 2014, supporting a constitutional amendment to ban it; voted for the Respect for Marriage Act in 2022 protecting same-sex marriage, though framed his support primarily as expanding religious liberty protections
Immigration & Foreign Affairs
- For criminalizing participation in boycotts of Israel and Israeli settlements; co-sponsored the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (2017)
- For the 2026 U.S. military attack on Iran; supports preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles and voted against war powers resolutions that would have limited the war without congressional consent
