For abortion rights; led effort to make Vermont the first state to explicitly protect reproductive freedom in its constitution, opposes the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe v. Wade, and is an original cosponsor of the Women's Health Protection Act to federally protect abortion access
For LGBTQ+ rights; co-chair of the Congressional Equality Caucus, original cosponsor of the Equality Act expanding federal civil rights protections for LGBTQ+ people, supported banning conversion therapy on minors, supported banning the gay panic defense, and opposes restrictions on transgender restroom access
